There are many resources out there that will help you setup a blog. Most of these resources, however, focus on the technical details related to launching a blog, such as hosting, choosing a theme, setting up a newsletter and so on.
Whilst these are important, they fail to address a key component: your offering and what you are going to be writing about. This is arguably the most important aspect of your blog. Without this. Without your content. Your site is nothing.
Moreover, many resources take the specialist approach, advocating the idea that you need to focus on a specific niche and overtime become an expert in that niche if you want to be successful.
Now if you are a Multipotentialite like myself, you have many interests and passions that you would like to blog about. It can be extremely frustrating having to focus on one thing, having to focus on a niche. I personally get bored quite quickly.
Enter the Renaissance Business.
You will see that I make mention of this resource throughout this blog. It is included in my sidebar and even under the Resource section of my site. This is an online resource created by Emilie Wapnick from Puttylike. It is a resource that I have used to setup this blog. And it is a resource that I highly recommend.
A Renaissance Business is a digital platform that features content on many different topics (this definition was coined by Emilie Wapnick). It is a business and a community. It is based on an overarching theme and is the opposite of a niche site.
This resource is a guide to turning all off your interests and passions into one digital business. It takes you step-by-step through the entire process of creating and launching a digital business.
It helps you discover all your many interests and passions. It takes you through various exercises that help you formulate a master list of interests and passions. Theses exercises are great because they encourage your active participation and thought. And it can be very rewarding once you have it all down on paper. You may even discover a passion or interest that you never thought you have.
Once you have completed the above, you are then guided through the process of creating an overarching theme. An overarching theme is one concept that brings various topics, interests or passions together in a cohesive way.
Using my site as an example. Some of my many interests and passions include travel, personal development, philanthropy and self-identity. I write about these aspects as they relate to my core theme of transformation, where people are actively improving their lives and the world for the better.
Consider these two blog posts – 10 Ways Travel Will Transform You and How Well Do You Know Yourself?. In these two posts, I write about travel, personal development and self-identity. Neat, isn’t it?
Not only does the Renaissance Business help you craft your overarching theme through various techniques and methods, it also helps you think up a title and a tagline and helps you with the design of your site, which should communicate and re-enforce your theme.
This resource, however, does not stop there, it also provides you with a step-by-step checklist to be followed which allows you to launch your digital business within 5 weeks following your decision regarding your overarching theme. It helps you with technical aspects such as choice of hosting provider, choice of theme and setting up a newsletter (to name a few).
You pick a launch date, commit to writing 2-3 articles per week, and focus on other design aspects in the meantime. The beauty of this is that you are committing yourself to a deadline. Furthermore through writing 2-3 articles a week, you can launch with 5 or so and have the rest as a back-up. This buffer is great when life gets in the way.
Once you have launched your business you are also provided with tools and tips to effectively grow your community and blog, such as through social media channels and through guest posting opportunities. The guide also covers the creation of products which you can create and sell to your community,
It really is a comprehensive guide, that helps you from start to finish. It does not only cover the technical details in setting up a blog. Rather it helps you with clarifying your offering, effectively launching and also growing your business.
It doesn’t force you into committing to a niche. Rather it helps you discover passions and interests and how you can cohesively incorporate all these together under an overarching theme.
Whilst it is especially suited for Multipotentialites, specialists too can benefit from this guide as it covers a wide array of areas involved in launching a digital business.
So why not give this guide a chance. At $47, it really is worth it. It provides 100 pages of pure magic.
